Commercial Description:
A strong India Pale Ale that is marked by intense hop flavor and high hop bitterness. This style of beer needed the high hop and alcohol to survive the trip around Africa. Medium to light body and very bitter.

A- Deep dark orange hue, white foamy head, moderate lacing S- Citrus tones (lemon & orange), sweet bubblegum, but subtle T- Mild citrus and a touch of pine hops, bread malts show up in the middle, finishes sweet M- Light/medium-bodied, oily texture, low carbonation D- Despite the well-masked abv, this is a surprisingly mild IPA with a dearth of hops and flavor, there are much better choices out there and 4Peaks HopKnot is a significant upgrade in this style

Tap at the brewery 1/13/09. Filtered, golden with a small head. Nose is very light floral with some hop profile. Taste comes off as an English style IPA, very light hop profile, floral, citrusy. Mouth is fluffy, with a medium body and a taste that hangs on all the way down. Smooth drinking good beer.

Draft at brewery. I thought this was fantastic. My previous experiences with Hop Knot were not charming, but this was really great. Nice citrus, light floral and very clean and bright hop flavors like a tart harvest ale. I was very impressed, and this wasnt even my first beer of the night. This batch is SOLID.

On tap in Tempe. Deep copper color pour with a nice foamy white head that lasts a while. Aroma of citrus and floral hops, with some sweet malt coming through. Flavor is well balanced between the malt and hops. Not too sweet, but not a hop bomb either. Light on the palate with a slight bitter finish. A very drinkable IPA.

Draft at brewery. Pours a nice amber color with a good looking white head. Aroma of citrus, malt, and hops. Flavor is sweet, fruity, citrusy, caramel, with some hop bitterness in the finish. Decent IPA.

Tap at the Tempe brewpub. Copper amber color with a decent white head. Floral aroma. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is fruit and floral over a caramel backing. Finish is mildly astringent.

draft @ the brewpub. Most flavorful offering of the lot but nothing to write home about.

Hand bottle, courtesy SoLan, via Flaco Alto. Pours a clear golden-amber color with a small, foamy, eggshell colored head. Traces of wispy, sticky lace mark the glass. The aroma shows notes of grapefruit and pine, but with a substantial toffee and biscuit malt base to provide balance. Flavors were similarly straightforward, lightly sweet toffee and caramel malts cut with bitter pine and citrus hops. Very simple. Medium bodied and low to moderate carbonation. Overall, a fairly underwhelming brew. Decent.
