Commercial Description:
A strong India Pale Ale that is marked by intense hop flavor and high hop bitterness. This style of beer needed the high hop and alcohol to survive the trip around Africa. Medium to light body and very bitter.

On cask at the brewery. A nice slightly hazy IPA (I think the one I had a different name). Floral/piney noce, big grapefruit. Amber. Great head retention and lacing. Fruity and enjoyable...so good I bought a growler.

On tap at brewery. Fresh hoppy aroma - grassy and floral, fair amount of fruity esters as well. Clear amber color, thin off-white head. Great hop flavor, quite floral and fruity, grassy too. Just enough malt to make it balanced, the malt doesn’t stand out, but it is there. Moderate bitterness, appropriate for the style. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Quite a nice IPA, nothing over the top, just a nice hoppy, bitter beer.

Nice aromatic hop character. Hops are not too intense. Light body a little thin, still quite refreshing. Very minable malt flavor. Nothing really stands out from this beer. A standard IPA that is very drinkable, a good burger beer.

Simple yet pleasant beer as i expected. It poured an amber color with little head, a slight white mess which dissipated within seconds. The aroma was very hoppy as to be expected. Earthy and piney notes wafted throughout. The body was fairly light however. Somewhat watery with fresh hops, but light light LIGHT body. This ends very dry and extra bitter. I'm not much of a bitter hound, so this was a bit over the edge for me, but it was still a good beer. I enjoy some fresh hops, and these were pretty good!

A good IPA but I'm getting a little tired of the standard use of cascade hops. Not as good as their latest beers but a good standby at the brewery.

Nice true amberish tangerine color with a solid amount of head. Has a typical citrus dominated aroma, has the same feel to it with moderate hops that come on strong to finish. Not a bad brew.

Had at Real Ale Festival on cask - May 30th, 2003
Beer appears orange with a nicely sized head. A very malty aroma with a hint of fruits. Flavor is of malty with a bitter hoppy finish. Beer is oily/smooth, but the flavors are a bit weak and nothing special.

(cask) Golden orange sporting a magnificent lathering..Sugar coated dried pineapples in the nose..flavors were heavy with malts, the Hops were somewhat subdued until the very end..grainy aftertaste. Some tasty stuff.
