PuckLSHS (101), USA Mar 7, 2005 EXCELLENT! This beer had a beautiful presentation and a very balanced flavor. It was not an overpowering stout at all. It had a very nice oak aroma and that little hint of whiskey that balanced out the stout with brilliance. One pint was not enough! turbo (1248), Arizona, USA Jan 22, 2005 Had this at the 5th Annual Strong Beer Festival.
Looked nice in the glass, black with a good white head.
Nice oak smoke aroma with caramel and a hint of whiskey.
Flavor was of smoke, malt, chocolate and of course a bite of whiskey.
This was my first beer of this type and I thought it was awsome I hope I can buy a few bottles of this in the future. Crosling (1635), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jan 15, 2005 Draught @ the 5th Annual Strong Beer Festival in Scottsdale, Arizona. The best beer of the festival, besides some of the ones I had already had. Black but not opaque with a creamy and dense white head. Very attractive aroma with a nice bourbon/vanilla/oak character along with hints of burning marshmellows, burnt currants, chocolate and coffee. In the flavor, the bourbon is profound, but not overpowering. The barrel aging really turned this into a classy masterpiece. I haven’t encountered a bourbon barrel aged beer this tasty before. Notes of milk chocolate, vanilla, wood and bourbon.
