Cask @ the AZ Strong Beer Fest - Pours a dark brown color with a small creamy light tan head. Faint lacing. Aroma is roasted malt and smoke. Flavor was much of the same. Medium body. Smooth but a tad dry. A nice smoked beer.

Quick question: Imperial Porter or Average Stout??? Sampled at the AZ Strong Beer Fest and just wasn’t as impressed as some of my buddies. Perhaps my palate was comatose at that point but the only distinguishable flavor was smoke. Where’s the depth???

sampled on tap at the San Diego Strong Ale Festival Nov 2008, an event shared with what seemed liked hundreds of ratebeerians and enjoyed mostly through a straw, since my face was a bloody mess of scabs and stitches. almost balck beer with strong roasty aroma. flavor had a mild sweet malt but was dominated by roast and smoke. too much smoke.

Tap @ 2007 Strong Ale Fest. Poured a very dark brown with ruby highlights and a beige head. The aroma was roasty and sweet and a hint of dark fruits. Smoke was present but mild. The flavor was of roasted malt to start and a smoky and doughy finish. Medium body.
