Some caramel, toffee, and earthy hops also in the nose. Lightly toasted grain flavors predominate. Smooth feel. Mild caramel sweetness and some dark corn syrup. Fairly dry finish with just a bit of toasted white bread sweetness in the linger. Seems more English than Celtic. drewbeerme (2282), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Aroma of wheat, honey, almonds and wet paper. Flavor follows... wet paper with some toasted almond honey sweetness. Lots of residual sugars... too sugary sweet without purpose. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 14, 2008 Updated: Nov 13, 2009FYI: Little did I know that Fox DeLuxe is a revival of an old Chicago brand, made by the peter Fox Brewing Co. from 1933 to 1955. Here I thought it was because the guy was from Kane County, along the Fox River.
12 oz. bottle. Not much info on this yet, just this is a virtual brewer, the guy who helped bring Hoppin Frog to Chicago. There were cases of it at Sam’s in Downer’s, yet I’m the first rater. And it’s Rating #1550. Pours light amber color with some haze in the center, slightly sudsy head. Clean, malty beer smell, not much detail beyond that. Nice taste, though. Seems close to all-grain, with light nuttiness and caramel roast. Not much alcohol noticed. Probably standard noble or English hops sparingly used to keep the malt taste in front. Carbonation lends just the right texture for an enjoyable mouthfeel. Recognizably a Sand Creek beer, but nicely made. Currently available in the "build-a-6-pack" rack.
