JPDIPSO (4233), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jun 22, 2005 My bottle indicates "Special Dark", but by reading the other reviews I would say this fits. Deep dark brown color with a small covering of tiny tan bubbles. Mild mocha aromas, with roasted barley, mild coffee and dark chocolate. Light lightly silky feel that seems to thin out. Some light blackberry flavors in the background, with the main characters of mild roasted barley and lightly acidic coffee. Clean finish. Almost to clean as you start ot wonder where it went. Very drinkable. Falconseye8 (522), Cartersville, Georgia, USA Jul 1, 2004 Updated: Jul 2, 2004I’m honored to be the 2nd rater to drink this beer behind the infamous Slikwily. By the way, this beer is courtesy Slikwily and his assortment of great brews from Minnesota/Wisconsin region. Roasty, Chocolately, coffee, Grapefruity. Very interesting first taste combination. Very intriquing indeed. Dark obsidian color and very very citrusy. Not exactly what I was expecting from a Dunkel. Very interesting beer!!! There is also a very acidic attachment to this beer as I’m drinking it. Not exactly what a dunkel should taste like. The last time I tasted anything like this was at belgianfest and it was a flemish sour. Unusual taste for this category. Thanks Slikwily for the beer!!! I'm sure it was a bad bottle and at some point to review this beer again based upon the rating of Slikwily. Slick (1956), Minnesota, USA Apr 24, 2004 Good dark brown color, small white head that faded quickly leaving little behind.Roasty aroma with a light caramel and light hops presence, maybe also a mild coffee coming through.Nice carbonation to this one, with a decent roasty flavor, mild coffee and mild caramel presence. The hops are there but a bit subduedThere is also a very slight alcohol hint that comes through but nothing that is real noticeable. All in all it's a pretty decent brew and well worth trying again which i will be able to do,since Joeybgood sent me a few of these for later.
