omhper (10950), Stockholm, Sweden Sep 4, 2008 Updated: Sep 28, 2008 Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Mahogany colour, enormous head. There’s plum and metal up front, along with a touch of madira. Grassy and light bodied. Dry with a touch of metal. Finishes with light-medium bitterness. I did not get the hazelnuts, and the clean mouthfeel makes it feel slightly thin.
thebeertourist (2005), Oslo, Norway Nov 28, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown colour with a medium tan head. Tart berries and chocolate nose, strengthened in the mouth. There is a subtle nutty bitterness that can probably be attributed to the hazelnuts. Not bad. PJClarke (50), London, Surrey, England Nov 20, 2008 Bottle:
Intense dark brown with little or no head. Sweet, dark malts and nuts with hints of tobacco. A little watery but awfully smooth. Definite coffee flavour and light hints of toasted nuts. A little metallic though. A tang in the aftertaste which is quite pleasant. A great warming effect which is perfect for winter. As Christmas ales go this steers clear of the unfortunate novelty some go in for which makes it eminently drinkable, even for a long session. fonefan (5547), Ulfborg, Denmark Nov 15, 2008 Bottle 50cl.
Clear medium brown red color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, nutty, dusty, spicy, coffee notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. (220808) Papsoe (11076), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 26, 2008 (Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of fonefan. Almost clear orangey brown with an off-white head. Some hard roasted malt and fruit in the nose. Medium body, a little over carbonated, hard roasted malt accents and a dry, malt bitter finish. 220808

Pours brown with a small bubbly rim of foam. Aroma is nutty, light chocolate and lots of raisins. Low carbonation, pretty thin and watery. Flavour is rather sour, some nuttiness peeps through and actually a pleasant chocolate finish. Not interely infected yet, but getting there.
