eaglefan538 (2115), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Oct 19, 2007 Draft at Bull and Castle, Dublin. Pour was golden color, sparkling bubbles, large initial head with true retention and lacing. Nose was bready, grassy, and fruity, fairly typical. The flavor followed suit, some added graininess, but also a metallic light touch, something that kept this from finishing crisp and sharp, I was even suspicious of it being served on Nitrogen (minus the mouthfeel) over a couple of sips. Koelsch-style ale.
an extremely light ale, but I found the light color to be quite deceptive. It has quite a bit going on, but it took having it along with the food to bring out all the magic. By itself, it has very nice subtle malt tones with a slight hint of fruit. All subtleties were swept aside when combined with the excellent haddock & chips -- it came to life as a complex ale: bubbly to cleanse the palate, just bitter enough to quench, and slightly sweet for fun. mjs (646), Helsinki, Finland Jul 9, 2008 (Draught at Bull and Castle, Dublin, on 2008-07-02) Pale golden. Clear. Medium-sized white head. Hoppy nose. Medium palate with quite much carbonation. Hoppy and fruity taste. mansquito (661), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Aug 29, 2007 On tap at the brewery. Pours with almost no head and has a clear and low carbonated golden body that is actually very pretty. You can tell it is not a crappy pale lager just by looking at it. Bready aroma. Grassy hops that made me actually think that this was a lager. Slightly sweet taste. End is bready again. Fransiscan Well ought to have more customers and more ratings because they seem to be truly committed to good beer and its proliferation. Fruity, quite sweetish, true to style.
Soft, malt and flowers. A slight bite in the tail.
