Good, clear chestnut (to qoute chris_o) brown color. Head all but disappears within 30 seconds. No appreciable beginning, malt presence squarley in the middle (tastes rather caramelized), hint of wheat/grass flavor immediately thereafter, strong, distinguished metallic flavor and sharp, lingering bitterness at the end.
Good beer to wean companions off of Coors Light. chriso (4852), London, Greater London, England

Pours with a sizeable off-white head, which persists for a short while. Sweet malt and treacle toffee aroma. Malt, caramel and fruit in the aroma, but mainly bitter, tending towards tart, with a metallic edge. Not bad, but not overly tasty. 500ml bottle from beersofeurope.co.uk. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 27, 2004 Copper body and velvety off-white head. Some distinct whiskey notes in the aroma struck me immediately. Toasted malts as well. Light malty flavor with moderate sweetness, warm spices, and subtle earthy hops. Lacks any offending elements and is very drinkable in a mindless way. Cobra (1066), In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA

Not the best alt I’ve ever had, that much is certain. Poured out a dark brown color, with a minimal white head. Some DMS in the aroma, along with burnt malts. Slight coffee nose, not much else going for the aromas. Tasted like burnt malts, some slight bitterness from the hops. Thin mouthfeel. Very dry in the finish, almost astringent. I won’t be buying this again anytime soon. OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 19, 2004 Dark copper colour with a mostly lasting creamy and rocky off-white head. Dark bread, yeasty, and nutty aroma. Grassy, herbal, and perfume flavours with a pleasant nutty bitter finish. Perfume hangs in just a bit too much though. Light bodied and fizzy mouthfeel. badgerben (3610), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 18, 2004 Brown color with a little head. Aroma is... huh... weird. I just can’t place it. It smells dusty yet spicy. Kind of a mish mash. The taste is even more of the extreme. Salted pork? After a few minutes, that flavor disappeared and I could have sworn it was wet cardboard. Odd beer. I’d like to try another Alt, but probably not this one. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

Nothiing Distinctive and a bit Confusing.... Don’t Need to Try Again. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA

Pours a deep red with a small ivory head that leaves minor lacing. Aroma has a faint hopped nose, some sweetness from caramel. Taste starts earthy and malty with an a faint fruitiness. Taste ends with a decent bitterness to balance it out, but still fairly thin tasting.
