ryan (1706), Beltsville, Maryland, USA May 7, 2007 Nitro. Brown body with creamy tan nitro head. The aroma is suppressed by the nitro, but bits of roast and chocolate make it through. The flavor is woody, very roasty, some caramel and chocolate and relatively dry. Medium/light body would probably be ideal for a porter if not on nitro, but I’m just guessing. Nonetheless, the nitro wasn’t too damaging to this one. CaptainCougar (4637), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 2, 2007 Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a frothy, spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of roasty malts, some coffee and dark chocolate with a touch of caramely sweetness. Body starts a little thin for the style, but has nice earthy roasty flavor and a lingering mocha finish. A pretty nice porter. blank (999), Washington, Washington DC, USA Mar 20, 2006 brew pub: yeah! the dark beers. This was a solid porter. A very good flavor but not as rich as I like. A nice almost black color and a nice malt aroma were almost better then the beer’s flavor BuckNaked (1195), Tempe, Arizona, USA Mar 12, 2006 On draught at brewery: Light brown body (seems a bit light to me for a porter) that is hazy but allows light to filter through. A small beige head sits atop the body which has nice retention. The aroma is sweet grains, sugar, chocolate, caramel, light coffee, but it does smell like it’s lacking a bit in the darker malt department. Taste is dry cocoa, sweet grains, much less roast than I expected, and just seems a bit light on the darker malts for a porter. The body is light, a bit too light for this one, with medium carbonation and finishes sweet with hints of caramel. argo0 (6176), Washington DC, USA Feb 11, 2006 Black body wtih off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, chocolate, roast, some coffee, faint cherry. Taste is moderately sweet, chococoffee, roast, some earthy/grapefruit. Medium body, creamy for the most part with a bit of acidity at the start of the swallow. A bit hoppy for the style but the malts still dominate this brew.
