| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 6, 2009 Bottle. Nose is phenolic, slightly metallic with banana and clove undertones. Caramel as it warms. Thick-ish brown with a nice bubbly white head. Flavor is caramel and bananas, well-intertwined. A touch of roasty character shows up at the end as well. Full-bodied with a very smooth feel, like thick velvet. This makes it a very drinkable dessert beer. mbgrayson (145), Anaconda, Montana, USA

Reminds of a belgian a little, crossed with a wheat beer. Food color and body, with a light colored head. Mine was a cloudy amberish orange color. Full bodied and very drinkable. Thumbs up! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 23, 2009 Not great - not horrible. It’s good to see what a Dunkelweizen ’should’ taste like, not what our opinion of them is. Pours a dark brown with white head. Aroma is bananas, with a touch of must. Not overly sweet, but with a clove note in there. Finishes on a clean note. Skidds (252), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 20, 2009 Poured a very nice Red/orange/brown colour with a dense and tall off-white head. Aroma of wheat, cloves, and roasted malts. Flavour same as aforementioned with banana, toast, spices, and caramel. Medium to full-dodied with a fairly sweet, spicy finish. Excellent. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 17, 2009 Appearance: Pours a medium brown body with a tall, meringue-like, ivory-colored head.
Smell: Clove-scented toasted wheat aroma with notes of apple juice and, to a lesser degree, bananas.
Taste: Sweet, toasty, and tangy malted wheat. A bit of treacle and caramel sweetness present. Fruity tastes of bananas and Granny Smith apples. Pinch of clove. Light spicy hops and bitterness. A disquieting wateriness begins to the develop midway. Dull, muted spice on the dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Downright fizzy carbonation.
Drinkability: Pass. While not bad any stretch of the imagination, it fails to show the depth, grace, and deliciousnicity of the finer examples of the style. Grossecaisse (108), France
