Bottle, a very cloudy brown. A yeasty aroma with sweet fruit. A pleasant fruit and wheat flavour.

Pours a dark plum color with an off white 2 finger head. Aromas and flavors of dark fruits, and cloves. Medium to thin palate that was crisp and mildly carbonated.

Hazy brown hue, with a rocky beige head, leaving laces, yeasty, toasted and wheaty malt nose with a fruity accent of fig, raisin an caramelized ripe apples, with some spicy notes of cinnamon and clove, with a subtle fruit wineyness in the arom follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity wheaty character, some toasted and caramel malts, with a hint of smokiness, cinnamon and clove spiciness, with a mellow fresh mouthfeel, with a faint chocolatey accent, and notes of fig, ripe apples and raisin fruitiness, leading towards a wheaty, spicy, mild hop bittering finish.

Cloudy light brown. Dirty fruit aroma. Dry bland with a slight bannana but not enough. Very lightly spiced flavor. Wouldn’t get this again.

Sampled last weekend. Compared to the regular Franziskaner, taste is a lot more sweet. Aroma is similar but appearance is a lot darker brown than normal. Mouthfeel is smooth and consistant with the regular brew. Flavor is more sweet and a little more malty. A great brew but I would probably stick with the regular if I had my choice.

Sweet, ripe banana in the aroma perhaps even some nuts and... sweet pastries? Surprisingly transparent and much less cloudy than the blonde variety. The taste reminds me a lot of ice cream I often had as a kid: banana, chocolate and almonds. Really! Might be a slight hint of citrus there too. It feels a bit thin on the palate and the complexity isn’t off the scale, but still, it feels like they’ve hit a pretty good compromise between an easy drinking and refreshing brew and something you can delve into. Solid and pleasant if not great or spectacular.
