Dacrza (245), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA Aug 25, 2008 First, THE HEAD--the stuff of legend--almost celestial with flecks of light dotting pillowy clouds stacked three fingers thick... the body is a blend of light yellow to dark orange--imposingly attractive... clove and vanilla mesh with banana in a beautiful bouquet, the scent strong but not overpowering... soft, almost watery(!) presence through the mouth; without the taste factor, a medium-bodied consistency that leaves a remainder to be savored... clove, banana, vanilla and a slight acidity that tickles the throat adding a bit of feistyness to an otherwise steady wheat backbone... I recall the first sips I ever had of Franziskaner and the following disbelief that a beer could taste this clean and refreshing, yet challenge the taste buds beyond the well-filtered American premium pilsner... ten years later, still a revelation for this beer drinker.... PolakPorter (82), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 24, 2008 Always been a fan of Franzi. Not quite as fulfilling as the Weihenstaphaner or Julius Ector, for example, but still very tasty and quite drinkable. I have noticed that the half liters are more yeasty (and flavorful) than the green 12ozers. Worth trying fordefiniture. heynik1885 (53), tonawanda, New York, USA Aug 24, 2008 Nice golden color,BIG white head, smell wheat and flowers,Taste is smooth and refreshing. Some lacing on glass.Excellent weizen AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 23, 2008 Pours a light gold in color with a huge four inch pillowy head. Took a few minutes to complete the pour. Smell is beautiful wheat and some lemon, spice. Taste is very wheaty, almost seems like there’s a little tobacco or smoke flavor as well. Very crisp and refreshing. I like. pivnizub (4949), Bochum, Porúří, Germany Aug 23, 2008 Bottle:Pale golden, huge beige fluffy head; distinctive lemony-fruity nose with a wheaty touch; light to moderate sweetish-sourish flavour, light bodied, soft MF; sweetish-sourish finish with a light tartness in the aftertaste. Pleasant, but a bit overrated..... GarrettB (494), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 21, 2008 Here’s another jolly monk beer, and inside, a delicious German beer and the perfect example of the simple satisfaction that comes from a Hefe-Weizen. This dark golden beer emits a fluffy banana smell, accompanied by well fitted oat aroma and the general scent of banana bread baking in the oven. The aftertaste is heavy in weight, but faint in flavor, making it the ideal way to conclude a sip - the beer leaving the mouth like a diver off the diving board, leaving a wobble when its gone. The taste repeats the ode to banana and oats (a classic breakfast mix) on a very soft and fluffy palate. It’s a pleasant, tasty, light beer, which has the odd effect if being both filling and refreshing. Está presente um gosto lupulado e condimentado, com notas de canela (2/5). fata2683 (836), Panama City, Florida, USA Aug 21, 2008 My favorite Hefe, much more of a complex flavor than most. Fruity, yeasty, bready, and malty. Great for sitting out or BBQing. Very balanced and easy to drink. THE Hefe imo.
