carruthm (1110), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 8, 2008 Tremendous hefe. Loads of banana spices while retaining a good balance and a citrusy aroma. valpoaj (362), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA Jul 5, 2008 On tap - hazy golden pour with a thick white head...a typical hefe pour! Aroma is very bready and yeasty with citrusy accents. Flavor is full and yeasty...lots of banana, clove and orange accents. Oily on the palate and very refreshing...another underrated hefe on ratebeer.com! det2nj (31), Newark, New Jersey, USA Jul 5, 2008 (Bottle at Jacoby’s German Biergarten in downtown Detroit). Bubbly gold with average wheat beer head. Classic light fruity aroma and taste, lively on the palate. Crisp and refreshing. RunDWP (203), San Jose, California, USA Jul 4, 2008 Bottle from Safeway in the United States. One of the classics. Pours a cloudy orange with a thick white head. Bready and citrus orange. Bready, yeasty flavor with notes of lemon, apricot, clove, and coriander. Richer than most hefeweizens here in the United States. Svesse (2596), Hässelby, Sweden Jul 3, 2008 (Draught at MacKinlay’s, Stockholm) Orange, cloudy colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity nose with citric hints of wheat, bread, peaches and banana. Fruity, malty taste with notes of banana, plums and sweetish hints of cereal. Nice, consistent and refreshing summer beer, but doesn’t really rock my world. bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Jul 3, 2008 Nice to rate those that I’ve had before, but not had the chance to write down. Pours slightly orange-gold into the glass, hazy, with a large fluffy head that leaves lace. Lots of banana on the nose. The brew is semi-dry, with banana notes (maybe mingling with some lemon). High carbonation levels, per the style, show next, beginning mid-palate... accompanying this begins the wheat contingency and a tad of orange. This eventually leads to a dry spicy finish, closing with slight clove and yeast/wheat notes. Nothing is overt or overdone, and the mouthfeel is a bit seltzer-like. German hefe’s tend to have large carbonation levels, but I’m really missing some substance in the middle of the pull. Better than its dunkel counterpart, it’s a decent summer brew. Still at odds with it somehow. MicV (1), , California, USA does not count Jul 1, 2008 Appearance is light amber, slightly cloudy, with a decent head. The flavor is a NOT your typical Hefeweizen. It has hints of orange, barley, and just a hint of clove. Overall, a sensational beer and an extreme pleasure to the pallet and definitely memorable! Even for those that don’t normally care for the wheatier brews.
Well Done Franziskaner urraca (44), New Jersey, USA Jun 30, 2008 The beer that got me into wheats. Had on tap at Stuff yer Face. Golden, cloudy pour with a full bouquet of citrus. Hints of banana peel, and citrus, orange with a lot of spiciness to finish it of f. Very drinkable and refreshing and I tend to order it by the liter :)
