Wulfstan (509), California, USA Apr 10, 2008 This is definitely now one of my favourite hefe-weizens. It is hazy light amber with a very big off-white head that slowly shrinks. The aroma is at first grain and herbal hops rather more like a German pilsner-which is good to me-but thenthe classic German hefeweizen qualities take over, with banana, bubblegum, marshmallow, wheat, yet always with a grainy-hoppy, alcoholic lager quality mixed in, as well as an odd musty quality which slightly detracts. In taste, it is great, with lots of fruit, some bubblegum, good sweet-bitter presence and balance, a long, slightly alcoholic grain-banana finish. It’s not to soft, a complaint I ote have with wheat beers of various types. In the end, this is a great hefeweizen for me, combining the typical Geramn qualities for the style but more muted than usual with a non-wheat beer quality. hoplover406 (204), Crofton, Maryland, USA Apr 10, 2008 Tap @Faegans, Hazy, murky yellow. Big banana and bubblegum aroma. Medium body, and banana taste. Nice wheat aftertaste. Solid! Droptank (79), Spring, Texas, USA Apr 10, 2008 Wow, what a beer. Cloudy in appearance and a light fluffy head to boot! I was not a fan of the wheat ale until I tried this. Very very flavorful with hints of citrus and banana. It is refreshing enough to swig after mowing the lawn, and refined enough to intrigue the in-laws over slides of their trip to the Rockies. Must try! jkm (189), Australia Apr 10, 2008 Cloudy golden yellow colour with a thin white head. Lots of chunky sediment. Sweet fruity aroma. Overall flavours quite sweet, malty and banana. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Quite nice. 500ml bottle. Thylacine (237), Tasmania, Australia Apr 10, 2008 Cloudy yellow/gold with fluffy white head. Medium carbonation and body. Wheat malts with banana aroma and flavours. Maybe a wee bit of cloves. Sweet finish. Beerman6686 (1263), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 9, 2008 pours a golden yellow color with a white fluffy head. Aroma of banan, lemon and wheat. Flavor mainly wheaty and citrusy. esox (259), Oulu, Finland Apr 8, 2008 500 ml. bottle. Huge, white head. Liquid is hazy and butter-like yellow. Yeast, bana ester and sweet wheat malts in aroma. Flavor is yeasty sour in the finish. Body is light to medium. A bit watery mouth feeling. Sparkling and quite refreshing. Not my favourite hefe-weiss, but still tasty and easy to drink. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 5, 2008 Pours a bright orange yellow cloudy color with a huge amount of froathy white head. Looks absolutely delicious! Aroma is doughy banana and a tad bit of lemon - pretty typical of hefes. Flavor very crisp and refreshing but without being watery and thin. Nice banana and subtle citric taste with a bit of the doughy yeastiness. Overall, excellent hefe.
