kidmartinek (972), austin, Texas, USA Mar 19, 2008 Orangish golden in color. Not as much head as usual for a hefe. The white head is spritzy. Light wheat aroma with hints of banana. Medium-darker wheat taste with a highly carbonated mouthfeel. Zippy finish. A good weizen, but not the best. CaptBier (301), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Mar 19, 2008 Bottle. Hazy orange beer with fluffy white head. Sweet aroma of wheat and yeast. Light banana flavor with a yeast finish. Its nice but very light. Miksu (2187), Jyväskylä, Finland Mar 19, 2008 0.5 l bottle. Hazy deep yellow color with thick head. Grainy and clovey aroma with hint of banana and vanilla. Wheaty and clovey flavor with quite smooth and oily mouthfeel. The deep fruity and spicy tartness separates this from other weizens. Good, allthough not my favourite weizen.
unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Mar 18, 2008 Lovely cloudy-orange beer with a huge head that lasted the whole glass, with lots of sticky lacing. Pronounced lemon-yeast aroma, with a hint of something warm -- maybe clove? Taste was really delightful -- mild, citrus with a touch of yeasty banana, and a lingering spicey, almost peppery clove-like aftertaste. Not as heavy as Paulaner or Weihenstephaner -- milder, less forward, and a bit less hops bitterness. Amazing mouthfeel for this style of beer: quite smooth and rounded. At 5.0%, and such a pleasant taste, you could drink these comfortably for a long session.
GG (1612), NorCal, California, USA Mar 18, 2008 Quite simply, there probably isn’t a better German wheat beer. American wheat beers WISH they could be this good. In fact this style might be one of the "original" session beers.
The beer pours out a cloudy, yellow-orange color with a stunning one three finger head which transformed to a 1/2 inch creamy thick cap which stayed during my entire drink. Aroma...bananas. And oh so refreshing. Even on a cool March evening it still manages to refresh. Some sweet malts and just a kiss of citrus. Bananas is the main attraction on the aroma though. Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth. Flavors had some nice maltiness to it, subtle citrus...maybe even a bit of vanilla. The flavors just meld incredibly well and transform this into a top notch thirst quencher. Might just be my favorite wheat beer, although New Glarus is very close. afireinside96 (807), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 18, 2008 bottle. pours a hazy gold with a huge, dense white head that rose about an inch out of my glass and maintained shape for a few minutes. nose is of lemon and orange peel. zesty lemon flavor. smooth creamy mouthfeel. finishes dry and slightly astringent. SynergyXJ (506), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA Mar 15, 2008 Bottle #361 Slightly hazy golden pour with large white head. Light wheat aroma and flavor of citrus and wheat. Good brew overall, it’s been a while since I’ve had a German Hefe. masto (77), Helsinki, Finland Mar 15, 2008 Bottle. Hazy golden with handsome head. Spicy banana aroma. Mild but refreshingly sour taste of citrus and little banana, some. Well-balanced. Well carbonated medium body leads to great drinkability.
