grikmok (92), Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA Jan 12, 2008 Updated: Feb 5, 2008Poured to a white head with aromas of yeast and alcohol. Initial flavor was citrousy with a slighty bitter and tangy finish. Not as good as the Paulaner Hefeweizen. welly1 (1), England does not count Jan 11, 2008 Clear fruity finish, light, refreshing, clean, exciting, golden in colour, good from the bottle however awesome if on tap. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA Jan 10, 2008 Updated: Jun 21, 2009Pours cloudy yellowish to orange with a small head in a pint glass on tap. Nose is fresh orange, wheat, and lightly spiced from the yeast. Flavor is strongly of wheat, and lightly spiced with flavors of clove held in check without being overpowering. This is a great example of the style, and the heavily wheaty and fruity character of it really made it appeal to me. Acarotibia (57), Santiago de Compostela, Spain Jan 10, 2008 Hard wood aroma.
Dark white foam with dark golden colour.
Burnt wood flavor with sweet palate.
Great speech beer. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Jan 9, 2008 On tap at Green Dragon in PDX--Poured a very hazy, glowing golden orange with a shade of mustard, Big banana clove nose typical of style smelled from across the long bar. Spicy yeast flavors. Slightly tangy and acidic, yet fruity. Finished on the thin side, but very warming. A cery nice beer! Final longo, doce e lupulado. Ótima. sirPino (855), Zawiercie / Żywiec, Poland Jan 7, 2008 Rated: 20 November 2006
Bottle 500 ml, brown.
Body is hazy with quite a huge white head.
Aroma of strong yeast, not ripe apple and banana. Franziskaner unfortunately has no full rounded taste. Its too accidic and metalic for me and the body is definitely too thin as for a "premium" german hefeweizen.
Aftertaste gives some notes of citrus accidity and quite noticeable wheat grains. Again more like soft refreshing hefe which lacks a bit more yeasty flavour and thickness of the body. Looks much worse for me when compared to Paulaner Hefeweizen, not only in terms of taste but also in terms of body appearance, I think because of lower yeast ingredient. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Jan 6, 2008 Golden, hazy wheat with a huge, white head. The aroma has notes of wheat and banana and the mouthfeel is prickly. the flavour is slightly sweet with clear notes of wheat, banana and citrus. It might have more body, but it’s a nice weiss.
