Wheaty beer, with a smooth aftertaste. Enjoyable fruity taste comes out in the middle-taste.

500ml bottle. Cloudy thick orange-tan color. Big foamy head. Excellent appearance certainly. Pronounced banana-clove aroma. Classic banana esters, smooth and easy drinking. Thicker and creamy, but has a dulled unfresh malt underlying character. Assumably pretty awesome fresh in Germany. Classic Hefeweizen, though hardly the best.

Pours a hazy straw color body with a lasting ring of white head. Smells of yeast and malts. Flavor is clean and yeast.

On draught at the Lazy Boy Saloon. Unfortunately, this was served in a shaker. Still, it had a voluptuous head with a strong, spicy nose (hints of citrus and even banana). Perfect balance of wheat and other flavours. I can see why this is a standard for the style.

Bottle. Hazy pale yellow with lasting white head. Wheat dominates with nice mixture of fruit and spice flavor, very little hops. Outstanding wheat beer.

On tap into a 500 mL Franziskaner weizen. Pours a hazy gold with a two/three-finger white head that has great retention and a little lacing. Aroma of bubblegum, cloves, nutmeg, overripe bananas, sourdough malt, and a little apple cider vinegar. Flavor is similar but with a little too much sourdough malt and not enough bananas and spice. This was the first beer I ever had that broke me out of the macro pale lager world into the real ale world. I would consider this the hefeweizen standard.
