Beer pours slightly cloudy golden color with a massive off white head that is nicely retained. Aroma is very nice with elements of banana, clove, and other spices. Excellent flavor as well. Nice banana flavor, wheat of course, and just a dash of spice. I will be drinking many of these this summer.

Draft at 1849. Blond pour with some white head. Aroma of sweet malt, banana, and yeast. Flavor was the same, and is probably my favorite hefeweizen.

Unfiltered yellow appearance with a large, fluffy head. Banana aroma and taste was not as pronounced as in some other German hefe’s; wheat, citrus and spices are more prevelant. Creamy mouthfeel develops from the medium-bodied flavor. Crisp, dry finish.

Cloudy, golden yellow color with a tinge of yeast. On tap in Germany. Aromas are somewhat citrusy, but banana fruits dominate the flavor. Medium bodied, yeasty wheat beer with a nice pleasant finish without being excessively sweet.

Solid German hefeweizen but not a patch on the Paulaner I had yesterday. Poured a cloudy peach-tangerine colour with a 4cm head that burped and farted for several minutes before settling down. Laced a little. Slightly sour aroma. Some characteristic weizen banana, plus vanilla. Not the most inviting hefeweizen aroma. Light-bodied and quenching, with a fizzy mouthfeel. Perhaps a fraction over-carbonated. Distinct banana notes and a mild bitter-sour finish. It’s decent enough but I wouldn’t rate it among the best of the hefes. (Bottle, best before Aug 05)

Cloudy golden orange color. Big white creamy head. Some banana and citrus flavors. Musty, malty aromas. Very smooth.

At one time, early in my drinking days, this was luxury to me. A German wheat! It’s still a fine beer. But I’ve moved on as well. I guess that’s how I like my relationship with InBev beers.

Rerate, 12-09-2007, 50cl can, Leffe goblet, bbe 06/08. Head is large and creamy, descending upon a hazy golden body. Aroma is big on bubblegum and cloves, no bananas to my nose this time around. Sweet flavour with bubblegum and heavy creamy quickly picks up spicy clove and pepper notes closing with a semi-dry, tart and wheaten finish. Medium bodied with a velvety texture and bustling carbonation. Flavour would be better if it were more banana than bubblegum, but oh well.

Old score: 7,4,6,3,13 = 3.3 500 mL bottle, served in a hefe glass. Frothy white head diminishes slowly. Body is a hazy peach color with no visible particles. Banana and clove overtones; perhaps a hint of bubblegum. Grainy malt, flowery hops, doughy yeast. Sweet start is pushed back by a slightly acidic and bitter finish that is somewhat short. Medium body has a watery texture. Significant carbonation consists of many small bubbles. Slightly chalky finish. Taste doesn’t quite live up to the aroma; palate doesn’t quite live up to the appearance, IMHO. Still, a good hefe, if a bit overpriced.
