Loooonnng time favorite. Many years ago some friends and I sat at a local bar and compared some hefe weizens side by side and this one came out on top. Still does. Poured with a fine white head and a bit of lace. Hazy amber color. Extremely fragrant! Intoxicating (sorry) spicy, estery, grainy aromas. Same flavors but stronger and a bit of yeasty bitterness. Superb balance. Body is just right for this masterpiece. Great clean finish. Champion session beer. Kudos to Spaten!! Having this on draft at Bodega downtown La Crosse, Wis. USA.

Bottle. Pours quite an opaque/cloudy golden colour, with sediment swirling, with decent long-living head. Aroma of banana, some citrus, with yeast notes. Similar on the palate, though yeastier, and slight bitterness. Decent enough Hefeweizen.

The flavor of this one depends on how you get the yeast off the bottom of the bottle. If you shake it up and get chunks in your glass, it wont be near as good as if you swirl the beer around in the bottle until it is all gone from the bottom and the last 1/4 of the beer poured makes the glass of beer all that more cloudy, and tastes worlds better. I have noticed that you win some and loose some with this one but this one I am having now is a sure winner hence the high rating.

On tap at ’Kaldi’s Coffeehouse’ in Cincinnati, Ohio - This one poured a cloudy, sun-hued hefe with a thin white head of fine-bubbled foam and the requesite ’spiced banana’ aroma. Tastewise, it was very ’bready’ and rich, a very hefe!

Bottle, poured in pint. Very refreshing on a hot Cyprus night. A great hefe, but i prefer Paulaner.

500ml Bottle: Aroma of banana, cloves, nutmeg, spices, and yeast. Poured a muddy light brown/dark yellow/orange color with a medium-sized, creamy, frothy, white head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Full of large particles. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of bananas, cloves, yeast, slight bubblegum, slight citrus, and spices. Medium body. Slightly thin, chalky texture. Average to lively carbonation. Yeasty, dry finish.
