Rated 1/13/06: I was beginning to think that hefe’s were not for me, the previous few that I have had just didn’t do it for me. This one takes the cake so far. A beautiful deep yellow/orange color filled my glass with a constant head and adequate lacing. The carbonation is like the other hefe’s in that it is strong and constant. What stands out about the franziskaner is the aroma and flavor. My previous hefe’s were too sweet smelling and the banana taste was overpowering. This one melds a whole lot of spices and citrus flavors and rolls them into a well crafted wheat beer. I can’t say enough about the taste with this one very smooth and extemely refreshing, I’m glad I never gave up on hefe-weissbiers.

Compared to other hefeweizens, this beer floats toward the top of the list. The only knock is that after three or four, your palate is shot and the beer begins to taste sour. I’ve noticed this many times.

I really enjoyed this beer. It had a delicious lemon and honey flavor, with a medium body to it. It was delicious!

Great summer beer! Hazy and wheaty in aroma and flavor, smells a little banana-y. Not as thick as a lot of the wanna-be Hefes. Re-rated 8/28/07, from the tap, in a Weizen glass: Sweeter than I remember, with the same banana aroma. Actually got better as the glass warmed a little bit.

Pours with pure white head, and color is a cloudy and golden, nearly amber. Aroma is bold and smells sweet. Flavor is reminiscent of caramel with a light hint of apple, lingers masterfully. Definitely a repeat purchase.

This beer is legit! One of the best Hefeweizen’s I’ve ever had and I love it’s unique taste. The strong banana and citrus-like tastes set this beer apart from other Hef’s.
