Poors like a golden mist with volcanic head (not kidding). The head was huge. I kep pouring a little bit more just to see the explosive reaction of the head. Surprisingly there was not too strong of a carbonation feel, but present nevertheless. Aroma was that of banana, cloves and hops with a slight hint of wheat and yeast that is common with this style. The flavor was unique. This is my first German wheat hefe, so the lack of citrus taste that is present in Widmer hefe caught me off guard but the smooth banana clove flavors took me to a good place. I drank almost the whole bottle just by doing the review! A nice wheat finish and true to the style. Well done! On my palate it was enriching, slight carbonation and a wheat feel, reminds me of eating oatmeal for some reason. Overall one of my favorite wheat beers now. I knew from everyone else’s reviews that I wouldn’t be disappointed.

Nice cloudy gold. Large bubbly white head. Sparse lacing. Aromas of yeast and wheat. Some citrus. Banana and clove. Flavors are citrus (orange) and more banana. Peppery spices. Coriander maybe. Malts and wheat are abundant. There is subtle yeast hanging around there. The palate is crisp and refreshing, the body is nice and light and bubbly and it finishes with spice and fruits.

Hazy, straw-yellow color, enormous, pillowy white head: so far, the perfect look for a hefe weizen. Aroma: fresh, flowery, dry, loaded with lemon. Light and smooth, with a good, grainy texture. Marvelous fruity flavor, with the requisite Bavarian banana/clove character really showing itself more in the middle, and rides on out through the end. Wonderfully refreshing, thirst-quenching, damned-easy quaffability. Belongs among the top tier of weizens: ah, delicious!

Deep orange color. Cloudy. Looks so delicious. Citric nose. Tastes very well-balanced. Yeasty, citric, fruity. Goes down very smooth. I think it´s the best of the very easily avaible Weizens. Rerate: After drinking hundreds of bottles of this beer I´ve probably got to rate it higher, and it never ceased to amaze me, so a couple more points are justified.

Smokey and clove spice aromas come through with banana mixed in. Beer poured with a huge tall white head that lasts for some time, as it should. Yellow color and cloudy from the yeast that was swirled before pouring in the glass. Good clove spiceyness with with yeast flavor and a nice medium banana sweetness mixed in. Beer has a good finish that leaves me wanting more. A good classic german style wheat as I expect from a franziskaner.

I have encountered this beer a number of times throughout the years but generally in draft form. It is a quite pleasant draft. This time I sampled it from a 16.9 oz brown bottle. This beer poured a beautiful cloudy orange-golden color that whets the appetite with anticipation. The large white head has a slight orange tinge to it as well. There is a faint scent of orange peel. The scent is very pleasant but extremely faint. The flavor was very bready and yeasty. An orange peel flavor definitely shone through. A sweet yeasty aftertaste lingered. Overall a good hefeweizen - though a few still outshine it, you really can not go wrong with a Franzy.

Good German hefe. Not as yeasty as I would have liked, but still very decent.
