Oct 25, 2004 10.25.04 500ml bottle. Pours crystal clear straw color with a giant head that actually overflowed my Schneider Weisse glass, despite it having been freshened. Light aromas of banana, light spice, slightly barny. Flavor is not fruity-sweet like many wheat beers, rather dry, a bit on the sour side, but with an out of place, sugary sweetness that lingers. Some citric tartness, chalky even. Quite quaffable. I’m not sold on the style.

Oct 5, 2004 Clear pale golden body with a large white head. Aroma of cloves, banana and yeast. Lemon is in the taste along with the cloves, medium body, also I noticed some bubblegum. A good wheat beer to start your journey of this style of beer.

Oct 3, 2004 Pours a brilliant straw color. It is well carbonated and is topped by a thick off-white colored head. The aroma is lightly sweet with a mix of clove, grain, banana, and a bit of hoppy spiciness. The beer is quite crisp up front, it is followed by a soft fruity middle and finishes with a light astringent bitterness. There is some banana and clove notes here, they are a bit muted. This is a nice quaffable beer, nothing to get too excited about, but it is a good quality beer.

Oct 1, 2004 Pours golden with huge lofty head. Rich clean flavor with a lemony touch and a crisp maltiness. A little skunkish but not from exposure. Creamy and certainly has that malt liquor flavor but it comes off well with the help of peppery hops. Not too sweet. In fact a little on the dry side. Quite good.

Sep 5, 2004 "A beer for everyone who wants a fresh weissbier without the cloudiness", says the website. Why on earth would anyone prefer filtered weissbier, say I? Sure, it has estery banana and spicy cloves, which come over quite well in the aroma. However, on the palate its a bit sweet and could do with the yeast to provide an edge to cut through the sweetness. Without that it feels a bit flabby and becomes cloying after a while. Aug 31, 2004 Bottle. Crystal Pale yellow in color with a fluffy white head. Banana and clove flavor. Malty. Fresh tasting. Crisp and malty. Decent aroma of banana and cloves. Easily drinkable.

Aug 26, 2004 (500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark.) Filtering off the goodies - what an idea! But that’s what Kristall Weissbiers are all about, for the benefit of people who wouldn’t dream of drinking a beer they can’t see through. With Franziskaner Kristallklar they get at least a decent aroma of banana and cloves, the beer is pale yellow and crystal clear indeed, pours with an enormous head. Flavour is crisp and moderately sweet, some cloves are there, but of course it’s not as good as the Hefe. Still a nice refreshment.
