| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 17, 2008 (Savor, draft) Persistent tan head atop brown-black body. Aroma is medium sweet, chocolate, raisin, roast, light coffee. Taste is medium sweet, chocolate/coffee, roast, some raisin, cherry. Smooth medium body. For me, the highlight of the event. I actually got someone to curse me out for suggesting he go try it -- he enjoyed it so much that he was pissed he wouldn’t be able to get it again. bu11zeye (5621), Frisco, Texas, USA

Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, and a hint of fruit. Flavor of roasted malt and chocolate. Rastacouere (5564), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 1, 2005 Dark brown, gentle off-white ring. Salty and earthy nose is phosphoric in a boney way while having an appealing chocolate powder aspect. Dry and powdery palate unleashes more of that bone-like dryness under a coffee grain cover and meaty global character. Well contained alcohol overall with a smooth medium body that displays restrained carbonation. Good stuff. Thanks Denis! MartinT (5075), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

The Lure: Peppery roasted malt and red meat veins attract, yet point towards the slight non-conformity to the style proposed. I really don’t care though.
The Festivities: Molasses run languorously on the dark chocolate and create a full, sexy roastiness. This roastiness exudes a mild bitterness which clashes with the feathery soy suggestions. A velvety palace of a mouthfeel.
Transcendence: A valiant soldier ready to serve. ¾ (5006), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 17, 2008 Draft sample pours very dark brown with a small tan head. Inviting, complex nose of nuts, dry hops, smoke, char and heavy roast, and the body is meaty, dry, toasty and full. Nice mixture of charred chocolate and roast along with a nut and burnt fruit flavor. Very nice. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2005 Fairly dense light tan head. Black with hints of red highlights on the edges. The nose was a little weak but had wood, coffee and good malts. The taste was strang roasted coffee with hints of dark chocolate. There is a bite of floral hops. The mouthfeel was creamy. Very nice rendition of the style. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 4, 2005 Molasses, chocolate, roasted malts in the herbal, floral aroma with a touch of red meat. Opaque brown with a lasting cover of fine-bubbled tan head. Lightly herbal, soy-like character to the sweet chocolatey, roasty flavour with some grassy hops. Medium-full body is very dry with a rich, velvety-smooth mouthfeel and gentle effervescence. An excellent strong porter, perhaps but doesn’t quite fit as a Baltic Porter for me. Bottle (from a growler) enjoyed with beerbuzzmontreal, MartinT, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere.
