beastiefan2k (1590), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Apr 30, 2009 Pint pour @ brewpub. Color is very hazy, dark golden. The head is bubbly but not foamy. Aroma is bittered esters, a weird thing. Its a lot of pils mixed with esters. Taste has some more of that dry pils, strong. with esters subdued a bit. Finish is dry and herbal. theisti (1638), Leawood, Kansas, USA Apr 6, 2009 Pour is from a growler that I picked up at the brewpub 2 days prior to enjoying. Pour is hazed golden orange yellow with great settling and a dense one inch white head. Thick lacing coats the glass all the way from top to bottom. Aroma of ripe banana yeastiness, and some sweet pear fruit sweetness as well. Some yeasty clove, nice touch of grainy wheat. Overall, its a nice rounded and softly sweet nose. Taste is herbal, clove earthiness with a nice grainy wheat behind that. Banana and pear sweet fruitiness is present in the taste as well. Finish is earthy and flinty. Flavors meld nicely with nothing dominating. Palate is medium, nicely bright carbonation and a dryish mineral earthy finish. Nicely done Saison. About time to put a Saison on regularly Free State!
randolphjj (88), Raymore, Missouri, USA Apr 5, 2009 Picked up a Growler after a 43 mile run to Free State. (Long day running...) Great nose of a classic Saison. Easy to drink and the yeast really does a lot of the heavy lifting on this one. Good example of the variety here. Pick one up!
