| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 23, 2004 Nice centennialish hop aroma. Deep dark crystal malt aroma as well. Deeply bitter, a bit in fact for the body. Seems like a mix of centennials and cascades. Thanks Eric for sharing your growler. csbosox (1082), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 7, 2004 The O.G. is the same, but the Hops are now at 50.5. 5oz sample. Dark reddish color, off white head. Heard to tell the size of the head from my sample glass. The aroma was hard to pin down, but I finally figured out that it smells like Champagne, the real stuff. There is also some fruit, maybe orange? The beer has a lot of hops, but it is real balanced. In the past, this beer ruined any sense of bitterness in following beers due to it’s hoppy, but well hidden style. The finish was real nice. A beer that I get everytime I am there. It tastes less bitter than when I have had it in the past, but this was sample #4, so maybe I was mistaken. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 5, 2004 Appearance: pure copper color, with a rustic reddish hue atop, and a thick, pale brownish head, soon simmering down to a tight, white ring.
Aroma: softy and distinctly malty, creamy, with toffeeish notes, hints of fruit, refined, restrained, and sophisticated.
On the palate, light and smooth, but fully loaded with flavor, rich, full and super-malty. Not too much from the hop department here, but the abscence is not missed so much when in the company of so much flavor as is in such abundant supply here. And in this sampling, I had a 64 0z. supply of flavor and never tired of it for a moment. The growler was empty before the morning broke!
Mild, mellow, smooth, but jam-packed with luscious taste! An excellent session ale, in my humble, heemer77 (4309), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 11, 2004 Small white head with lots of lacing. A little bit of citrus rind, pine and some bread in the aroma. The taste is slightly bitter with orange peel and burnt toast. Overall a medium mouth feel and little carbonation. However, this may have been due it being from a growler that was nearly one week old. I also tasted this at the brewpub, but didn’t rate it. Solid IPA. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2004 tap at brewery-pours a nice orange hue with good lacing-piney, citrus aroma that was very sweet. lots of c-notes on the flavors but kinda one dimensional. Good body and solid hoppy finish make this one very tasty i must say. DrunkAsASkunk (847), Lynnwood, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 10, 2004 This beer was had from tap at the Free State brewery. This beer poured a fairly clear amber color with heavy carbonation, yet a miniature white head. The funny part is this was some hell of a lacing job in my glass left by this beer. The aroma is hoppy and piney bitterness. The flavor is incredibly bitter for a pale ale...i mean incredibly bitter!!! Heavy straw and grass root aftertaste, with some hay and pine in there too. A slight salty/malty finish, very dry and syrupy! Reminded me a lot of a stone IPA, but overly piney for my tastes. Dansting (222), Overland Park, Kansas, USA
