Commercial Description:
This flavorful beer is made in the style of the India Pale Ale Style originally manufactured in Great Britain for their colonies in India, but with an American twist. The harsh travel that the beer had to survive required a strong, hoppy beer. The Hops and the high level of alcohol helped buffer the beer through its long travels. Made with flavorful and full bodied Pale Ale malt combined with a touch of caravienne for color and carapils for body, the rich flavor of this beer is matched and enhanced by a very generous portion of Centennial and Cascade hops. The Cascades give this beer its distinctive floral aroma and a uniquely American character.
O.G. - 14.5/1058. Hops - 48.5 IBUs.

Mode: Draft
Source: Brewpub
Appearance: clear copper, fine off white head, scattered lace
Aroma: sweet crystal malt aroma with citrus hops
Body: big body especially for an IPA
Flavor: lots of hop flavor backed by sweet crystal malt, touch of caramel sweetness, well placed bitterness keeps it balanced without hinding the hop flavor or drying out the sweet crystal

Copper body, ok head. Fresh grapefruit aroma. Flavor is solid grapefruit, but not a hop bomb. Limited sweetness, good flavor from tip of tongue to the back of the throat. Good stuff.

Growler acquired in trade with mreusch (thanks!). Poured a medium amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of pine, citrus and caramel. Tastes follow suit. Ligthly bitter with a medium sweetness. Not a ’typical’ American IPA, but drinkable none the less.

Growler... DLD’08... Clear copper ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Fantastic retention. The nose is a mishmash of caramel and earthy, piney lupulin. Medium-bodied with soft carbonation. Watery, thin flavor with subdued caramel. Crisp, balanced finish. Kudos to someone in the Kansas contingent - aka my roommates at DLD’08 - for the sample... maybe csbosox?

GABF-03: Medium light orange. Smells of ginger and rye. Some good hop characteristics, semi-sweet bread flavor.

Dark amber with a moderate off white head. Cascade/grapefruit/pine aromas with a touch of malt in the background. Light sweetness again with the cascade hops taking back the flavors. A cross from an IPA and APA.

Growler sample at Cincy Ratebeer Gathering. Poured dark brown color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Solid smooth resin hoppy aroma. Medium body. Medium balanced bittersweet flavor with a medium smooth bitter finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.
