Commercial Description:
This medium bodied, yet dry Brown ale employs a Belgian yeast strain that contributes greatly to its character. The nose hints at brown sugar, raisins, and banana; aromas that compliment the slightly spicy yeast characters of this complex ale. Flavors of banana, dry cocoa, and burnt sugar finish this very dry ale, drier than a traditional dubbel. The bitterness in the finish is derived, in part, from the beet sugar used in the kettle to compliment the malt bill. Belgians often use kettle sugars in their beers and the complexity of the beet sugar most closely matches the sugars used in Belgium. Like many Belgian beers, this interpretation of a Dubbel is deceptively strong, finishing out at close to 7% ABV.. O.G. 14.5şP/1058 Hops – 18 IBUs

Taster @ the brewpub. Clor is clear brown. Aroma is disappointing right away, too young, too green, just out of control spiky esters. Taste is the same, comes off as a sweet colvent like flavor. They needed to let this one sit.

Growler shared by csbosox. Pours a hazy reddish-brown with a thin beige skin at the surface. The nose is of fruity, round malt, toffee and an "old" dustiness. Medium-bodied and silky, almost flat, with a mineral finish. It is a decent dubbel, but it is a far cry from their best beers. Thanks for sharing this with us, Chris.

On tap at the brewpub. The body was dark copper with a medium khaki head. The aroma was sweet and herbal. There were also some woody notes. The taste was dry wood and leather. Some light donut sweetness with a spicy finish. This hit me in the wrong way.

Growler filled at the brewpub, supplied by csbosox. Pour is clear ruby cordovan brown with a 1/2 inch off white head. Aroma of Belgian yeastiness, some wheat, some bananas, touch of spicy clove. Taste is the nose for the most part, but with a nice resin graininess. Palate has a nice lasting clove spiciness to it. Overall a decent attempt at a Dubbel.
