Commercial Description:
Our Imperial Stout is brewed to an Original gravity of 20 P using 10 different types of malt which combined weigh 1,400+ lbs. That works out to 3.4 lbs per gallon of finished beer or almost 4/10ths of a pound in every glass. The dark malts give a roasty flavor and dark color, caramel malts add sweetness and a full body. Three different hop varieties also add their own complexity (and about 78 IBUs). The bittering hops are Northern Brewers which also add a bit of a current-like flavor when used this heavily. The early aromatic hops are Fuggles, the same that we use in the Ad Astra and the Oatmeal Stout. The later aromatic hops are Cascades, the same that we use to finish Copperhead. The Cascades add a bit of an American Flavor to this classic British style.
The Ironman is named for one of our favorite regular customers, Walt Hull, who is a local blacksmith.
O.G. - 20/1080. Hops - 78 IBUs

Growler at Noogfest ’08. The body was black with a yellowish head. The aroma was milk chocoalte with coffee and soybeans. The taste was chocolate and coffee. This was also slightly bitter. A nice stout.

Bottle at Noogfest Four-O. Pours mahogany black with tan head. The aroma is creamy and roasty, something like a latte, along with some unripe berry notes. Flavor is pine and light chocolate, some mild cappuccino-esque notes, and a surprising balancing hoppiness. Not too shabby.

Tasted at Noogfest 4.0 (2008). This Imperial Stout pours a dark black color from the growler. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is chocolate and coffee. A medium bodied Imperial Stout. The malts are chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. The hops are earthy. Lots of roasted malt flavors, a touch astringent. Some dark fruit as well. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with some roasted malts.

A black appearance on this one. The aroma is a tad smokey with some chocolate, coffee, and some dark fruits maybe grapes? The flavor is a bit sour but also a little bit sour with some chocolate, coffee, and more dark fruit. Nothing amazing but a solid beer anyways.

Pours a dark dark brown. Slight raisin and brown sugar. Subtle smokey hints. Soft and rounded flavor, but still full flavored.
