Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - Autumn and Winter. Also available bottle conditioned.
Packed solid with malt, hops, and oats. Possibly the darkest stout of all time, a single varietal beer, made only with Fuggles hops, packed with bitterness, and brimming with aroma hopping, a deep and complex beer, worth taking some time over, and exploring the Hampton Court like maze of complex flavours. Initially, the dry, biscuit flavour of roast barley attacks the palate, soon to be replaced by the soothing Fuggles balm of rich smokiness, and then layer upon layer of malted oats, rich dark malts, and an unidentifiable eutectic finish of pure stout character.

The aroma is of coffee, chocolate, prunes, and slightly sour. The color is black and it has a small chocolate brown head. The flavor is of roasted malt, coffee, and bitter chocolate. Before it ends on a fanatastic malt bitter note combined with coffee. The body is very soft. It is not thin, but I had hoped for more power.

A very good stout. This rates up near the top in best stouts available. I was very nervous about the price ($5.00 a bottle) but it was well worth it. Loved the burnt smokey flavor. The chocolate and coffee were not over done. Just a perfect well rounded stout.

Chocolate syrup languorously flowing on sweet black grapes...A bed of roasty malt, spiced with a slight hop finish, proudly displays its chewy prunes...A hint of espresso, a drop of milk and the deep intestinal and mental growl of satisfaction...

Bottle-conditioned stout that looks like motor oil with a chocolate milk frothy and foamy head. Aroma is cacao and coffee beans with notes of vanilla. Deeply malty delicate nose. Taste is before anything very smooth, rich palate like this was an oatmeal stout. Chocolatey with enough roastiness to fit the style. Easy going all around with no acidity. Body is rich, velvety, silky, comfortable. Simply put, this is a real definition of well-crafted english stout.

Blond color; almost no head. Deep chocolate and liquorice aroma. Thick, oily, rich; malt, liquorice, roasted malt. Strong and long final. Lovely and powerful, close to the border with Imperial Stouts.

Nyow! Took a while to win over having had a brew prior, but that's rather amzing in tha this is rather amazing in its deep, deep roasted, very roasted character. Deep allright. On the sour side which is very nice. Dry, smoky, just not sure what to say but I like it.

Opaque black body topped with a rich tan head. The aroma had chocolate and coffee and vanilla and was very inviting. The flavor was coffee and rich and creamy. Quite good.

March 2003 bottle pours like used motor oil with a real nice brown head. The aroma is licorice, chocolate, coffee, and yeast. The flavor is roasty, malted, lactic, chocolate, coffee, and some tiny bitterness. The palate is rich, but not as rich as I thought it would be by the appearance. Overall, one fine Stout!
