Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - Autumn and Winter. Also available bottle conditioned.
Packed solid with malt, hops, and oats. Possibly the darkest stout of all time, a single varietal beer, made only with Fuggles hops, packed with bitterness, and brimming with aroma hopping, a deep and complex beer, worth taking some time over, and exploring the Hampton Court like maze of complex flavours. Initially, the dry, biscuit flavour of roast barley attacks the palate, soon to be replaced by the soothing Fuggles balm of rich smokiness, and then layer upon layer of malted oats, rich dark malts, and an unidentifiable eutectic finish of pure stout character.

The aroma melted my perceptions with an alien mixture of chocolate, and milk, and dried fruits, and candied cherries, and subtle smoke, and just a hint of bitter sweetness..The color was blacker than an afro..with a thin sheet of dark tan satin..a dry mouthfeel with flavors of chocolate, smoke, fuggle spiciness, and sublte bitterness..the carbination is low to completely hidden..the aftertaste is mostly bitter, yet slightly chalky..a subtle let down from the appearance and aroma..too bitter for a stout really.

Smokier than a Staurday night at Mulligan's with a bitter roast finish.

Cracked during the national anthem, superbowl Sunday. No beer has ever had less head in my experience. A few bubbles. Yet, not all THAT thick. Deep chocolate malt greets you first, then very simple flavors, roast barley and a tiny bit of fuggle warmth and...well, what so you call well done Fuggleness? Ummm, a bit sharp...not exactly spicy...just a tinge. Very nice.

Pours completely opaque. Caramel colored ring of lace. Hugely fruity and roasty nose. Lots of subtle character awaits the olfactory with coffee, cocoa, jellyish oats, molasses, and a bit of polish. Beautiful softly carbonated palate. Slight acidic tinge. Intense roasted malt complexities abound the palate, as does rich homemade chocolate fudge and baker's chocolate. Finishes long with loads of coffee, oatiness, and a hint of tar. Extremely complex. This is borderline Imperial Stout material. How is this not a top 50? probably the best "stout" on which I have ever feasted.

Midnight black color. Small head. Aroma is chocolate malt and slightly sweet. A medium bodied stout. Deeply roasted malt flavors. Initially Very dry and astringent, but it mellows out to a smooth a very dry finish. Complex flavors, you can taste the roasted barley and oats, balanced out by the hops. There is also some smokiness to this beer. Very different English Stout. Took me over an hour and a half to finish it. Mouthfeel is very full and round. Finish is bone dry. Aftertaste is a long lasting slight bitterness.
