Jul 3, 2003 6/23/03, draft, Dresden. Wow, is this the same beer that the others rated so low??? My coaster said "Freibergisch Bier Spezialitat", hmmm. Dark brown color with ruby touches at edges, medium, tan head. Aroma is malty, molasses, prunes, hops and slight vinegar. Flavor of dried fruits, smokey malts, coffee with a dry hop finish. Rich, smooth, creamy and full bodied. Great after a long day of touring the city.

Oct 12, 2006 Biggish light brown head over deep dark red body, almost opaque, with carbonation. Watery, earthy aroma with caramel notes. Taste is again earthy and caramelly with smoky, chalky notes. Aftertaste is interestingly dry and smoky. Nice, interesting, and drinkable. (0.5l bottle.)

Jun 16, 2007 had this in a small mountain village in saxony in a giant 1 liter mug... the coolness factor of that was definitely 10/10... the beer itself was good but a nothing amazing, just another typical german dark lager with strong hints of bread

Dec 18, 2007 I’m not a fan of schwarzbier, but this one was really good. Deep black colour, roast-malty aroma. It’s more zippy than I exspected. The malty taste is really constant. A good beer.

Apr 30, 2008 Bottle. Grassy hop aroma. Dark brown, cappucino head. Fairly lighbodied, some roast, herbal grassy hops. Light sparkly. Grass and hay retronasal. Light nutty aftertaste.
