Commercial Description:
French Broad Brewery’s interpretation of the classic UK Extra Special Bitter. A bright copper color with a complex malt palate is complemented by traditional British hops, notably East Kent Golding. French Broad has made this classic public house session beer a cult classic with its skull and crossbones artwork.

Hazy caramel with fair, creamy beige head / Nose of fresh sour malt / Medium body, somewhat chewy with a touch of sweetness, and with good malts balancing some bitterness on the good finish / Flavors of fresh sour malt and flowers, with a big dose of caramel, and with citrus notes underneath / Not a classic esb, but an outstanding.pale ale.

Nice alternative to doing a super trendy pale ale. Smells bready with a little dark fruit. Taste nice and clean with a big hop finish

Medium amber, decent head. Roast and caramel aroma. Flavor matched. Roast notes really shown through without going into coffee territory. Very good balancing bitterness. Quite nice for a style I am picky about.

Courtesy ChzMan. Copper/orange, white carbonation. Biscuity malt and floral, bitter, grassy hops. Dry, bitter finish. Medium body, highly carbonated, easy to drink. Nice hoppy session brew.

Good beer. Tried it a week or two ago. Good ESB, though I prefer Fuller’s. Good bitter!
