Commercial Description:
A classic German style amber ale that’s seldom seen among American craft beer offerings. Rich and full-bodied with a complexity mass-produced beers cannot match. The finish is in perfect harmony with sweet crystal malts and a subtle noble hop profile.

Courtesy of sebletitje. Pours copper with gold edges with some haze and thin white head. The aroma has a bit of lemon citrus hop notes blending into crystal malts, caramel malts, a touch of nutmeg, an herbal quality and some earthiness. The taste is much the same with notes of citrus lemon acidity, earthiness and smooth notes of caramel. It begins to dry out by midway with light herbal, earthy and slightly nutmeg notes and remains that way into the finish. Seems a bit Saison like which is a tad odd for an Alt. Plenty interesting though.

Got this in a trade. Nice, easy to drink, and reminiscient of good German beers/styles, but something about this strikes me as light and almost... amateurish.

Bottle… Pours clear and orange with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. Smells a bit lactic and woodsy… very pleasant, but I wonder if there’s an infection going on here. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. I’m not a big Altbier fan, but this bottle is either infected or simply not brewed-to-style. I don’t care which… I like sour beers and this is a best-of-show site so I’m gonna go ahead and say that I think this particular bottle of FB Altbier is probably much better than most. It’s not crazy sour, but it is refreshingly and interestingly tart and has a crisp, lightly acidic, dry finish. Much better than a run-of-the-mill, boring-as-hell Altbier. Not all infections are bad. Lambic = Win!. 2008 Alesmith Decadence = Fail!. This beer = Win! (for an Altbier). Thanks to craftbeerdesign for the bottle!

Golden to amber appearance with a thin white head. Aroma is malty with a bit of a sharp alcohol presence. Taste is very sweet and sour with the malt asserting itself in the finish. Some minor hops detectable, but overall fairly thin. Not bad, but I probably wouldn’t look for this again.

Had on draft and arrived a copper color with some reddish tints. Very malty aroma with some fresh floral hops. Had a banana bread taste along with some caramel. Solid beer.

Stratford tasting @ Cletus house. Pours a golden orange body with a white head. Bread y, cereal and grainy earthy character. Wheat, rye, and oats finish dry and earthy. Decent.

Pours an amber color with a white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, toasty, and some earthy hops. Flavor is toasty, crystal malts, caramel, biscuit, and a bitter earthy finish.

Hazy caramel with light, creamy beige head / Sweet, sour malt nose / Light body, malty and somewhat sour, watery, with fair finish / Flavor of sour malt, cooked fruit, and caramel / My first beer from this brewery - well meaning but amateurish?
