Commercial Description:
A classic German style amber ale that’s seldom seen among American craft beer offerings. Rich and full-bodied with a complexity mass-produced beers cannot match. The finish is in perfect harmony with sweet crystal malts and a subtle noble hop profile.

22 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark reddish copper body with a fizy off-white head that faded to a thin film. The nose is slightly fruity with a moderate graininess and toasty malt. The flavor is a bit too sweet for an Alt, with a lot of toasty grainy maltiness and a light hint of hops on the back end. Sweet lingering caramel and husky notes on the finish. Mouthfeel is on the watery side with a bit of clinginess on the finish. Lots of fizzy foaming carbonation emphasizes the thin body. Oall this was drinkable but a great Altbier it’s not.

A little more flavor than the ESB, but fairly similar. Nutty and toasty malt flavor dominates. Lightly sweet taste with some bitterness showing in the finish. Not a whole lot going on though, overall pretty boring and unoriginal.

Draft @ the brewery. Pours amber with a ring of off-white head. Toasty malt, some caramel, light sweetness. very earthy hops, bitter in the finish. Medium carbonation, drinkable, flavors seems a little muddy.

22oz bottle thanks to emacgee. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. The aroma is rich malts, some sourness, light caramel perhaps. The flavor was similar; sour wood and apples, light yeast and dry malts, light caramel. I see a few people have mentioned the sourness, perhaps this beer doesn’t hold up, or was it intended? Anyway, it doesn’t bother me much. Not too bad.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Greens Discount Beverage - Atlanta (Buford Hwy), 6/8/09

Aroma: Light nose, grainy and some spice, a bit floral, and some caramel there as well
Appearance: Hazy, dark orange color
Flavor: Flavor is mostly a light sweetness, malty grainy flavor, and a bit sour
Palate: Pretty easy drinking, an average mouthfeel, light-medium body
Overall Impression: I thought this one was alright, a bit of an odd tang to it that just didn’t work quite right for me. Not awful, but not so good either.

**Just submitted a photo for this one, as it was missing one.
