| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 11, 2009 On draft at the brewery. Dark brown pour with mahogany highlights and fair mocha head. Sweet chocolate cake aroma. Sweet milkyness. Sweet and sour flavors offer an interesting duality. I just wasn’t that into it personally. dkachur (2376), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 29, 2009 Draught at the Fed in Durham. Surprised and pleased to see it there. Seemed pretty true to style... dark brown/black pour with creamy light tan head. Slightly earthy roasty pour with more yeastiness than would be expected in most stouts, and a thinner body. Creamy, roasty, yeasty, and a bit nutty, I’d say. Solid. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 13, 2009 On tap at the Federal in Durham. This one appears black with a good dense head. The aroma is a bit earthy with some roasted malt and chocolate. The flavor is mostly coffee with a good bit of earthiness and a drying finish. I could take or leave this one. tronraner (1918), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 6, 2009 Draught at the Thirsty Monk. Pours black with brown edges and a dense beige head. The aroma is roasted barley, marshmellows, cashews, and little bits of vanilla, cocoa, wood, and spice. The flavor is coffee, spicy yeast, wood, nuts, and some general earthiness. The finish is a yeasty bread deal with some lingering bitter chocolate. Decent attempt.
