Bottle. Deep clear amber in color with an off white head. Roasty, yeasty and vanilla aroma. Chocolatety notes. Malty and wheaty flavor. Vanilla yeasty notes. Finish is bitter. Light bodied. Decent beer.

650 ml. Unclouded mahogany with a large, lasting head and Jack Frost all over the glass. Coffee, cocoa, citrus peel, banana and ash aromas. Flavors of coffee, lemon bread, dark chocolate, chalk, banana, tobacco and char. Medium body is slightly watery, tingly with acidity and low-medium carbonation, and roasty-dry on the finish. Much better than expected; kudos to French Broad for this nice experiment!

22oz bottle from nearbeer. Thanks! Poured a dark brown color with orange light shining through. The head was thick, foamy, and light tan with good retention. A bit of lace was left behind at the end. Pleasant aroma of yeasty bread dough, chocolate brownie, rye bread, and subdued clove. Medium bodied and delicately sweet. The flavor profile included the likes of clove, toasted bread, light tobacco, and a hint of roasty malt. Decent stuff.

Thanks to JCB for the bomber. Clear deep mahogany color that lets very little light through the glass. Large head. Aroma was dark(er) malts, bread and yeastiness. Flavor was medium sweet (brown sugar) with some peppery spiciness. I can’t really taste any bananas, which is a good thing in my book, but a bit strange considering the styles that were combines to make up this beer.

Bomber. Pours a woody amber brown with a thin head and light lace. Aroma is lightly peppery, dark toasted malts, sweet caramel and some yeasty phenolic character. Flavor is smooth, moslty sweet dark caramel malts, light nuttiness and chocolate, phenols and esters are toned down and becomes a bit boring although nothing really bad going on.
