There is a small grain nose. The mouthfeel is hollow, with predominant sourgrains followed by a spiced-bitter finish. It just feels a bit devoid of substance in the mid-palate, which throws it off kilter for me a tad. Just an ok Kölsch here, that’s about it. lithy (1850), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Appearance: Hazy gold with a very small, effervescent, white head.
Aroma: Light nose with notes of corn and grain.
Taste: Similar to the nose only amplified. Lots of grain and corn, but lacking a decent hop bitterness. Very mediocre.
Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium-light mouthfeel and a medium-short finish.
Overall: I would say this one is closer to an American macro than it is a Kolsch.
Rebuy: No thanks. shp555 (1695), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jun 28, 2009 Good for the light lager/pilsener kind of style. Similar to a light pilsener with grassy hops and light malts. Very lighlty colored and light bodied. Mild taste that was crisp and drinkable. Not much else in this beer though. cmillward (439), Orlando, Florida, USA

Mellow light toasty malts, a touch sweet, a touch of bitter at the finish. Very clean. Refreshing and drinkable. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 26, 2009 22 oz. bottle from Bruisin Ales in Asheville. Light gold with the faintest haze and a nice white head of medium size that hangs around for a while and leaves a respectable lace. Some hints of hay and grass and gentle whiffs of floral and spicy hops demand attention. A healthy effervescence helps clean the palate, and the body is not as light as I would expect. The overall effect is a crisp yet satisfying mouthfeel. Light malty flavors bring sweetness up front, and the softest of bittering comes through in the finish. This is actually one of French Broad’s better efforts in my opinion. Well balanced, refreshing, easily drinkable.
