Subtle spicy hop aroma and flavor with a hint of caramel. Moderate carbonation which I thought was appropriate. Decent grainy aftertaste. wncbeerules (9), North Carolina, USA does not count | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Oct 19, 2005 On tap at Barley’s I was impressed at first with a nice aroma, and a distict head. Mouthfeel was a little overcarbonated, and the first taste was of very slight diacytel. The finish was lacking however, the beer ended in a flat cardboardy taste, where I really wanted a lingering maltiness. A perfectly drinkable beer, just dissapointed right at the end. Copper body with a fleeting white head.
Slight hop aroma that is mirrored in the dry hop bite of the flavor. A bit off style, lacking a good malty backbone, but there are no real problems with this beer other than style. tronraner (1939), Seymour, Tennessee, USA

The aroma is butterscotch, leaves, and zest. The flavor is grapefruit, leaves, pine, soap, and old hops in the finish. Mediocre. Ayumbomb (63), Asheville, North Carolina, USA

I did enjoy this beer in season and liked its smooth feel. If you don’t like it, please don’t give up on Asheville and its breweries. SledgeJr (3004), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Low carbonation. very buttery taste. A smooth beer, but a little dark for a true german fest bier these days. I’m not sure how this differs from the regular FB marzen since it was not available to me. 00cobraR (1103), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
