Commercial Description:
This "Harvest" porter is "silky and smooth," as beer connoisseur Tony Kiss says. Lighter than most porters but with the same toasty finish.

Draft sample at KBJ08. Poured clear dark brown color with an average fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt and chocolate aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. A smooth drinkable beer.

Draft at Barley’s Taproom in Asheville, NC. Poured a dark brown color with orange highlights. Head was thin and off white. There was only scant lace left behind on the glass at the end. Aroma was of chocolate, and more specifically reminded me of cocoa powder. There was also a whiff of cola. Dry on the tongue with a detracting cardboardy note. There was also some cocoa powder and some roasty malt accented by a mild bitterness. Eh.

Black, with a thin tan head. Smells like coffee and cream, very nice aroma. Nice roasty, coffee flavors with a touch of vanilla and dark chocolate. The roasty flavors really become more pronounced as it warms, as well as some smoky notes. On tap, Barley’s, Asheville.

Draught at Barley’s in Asheville. Pours dark mahogany with beige head. The aroma is light molasses, some nuts, some ash. The flavor is nutty with some chocolate and ashy notes. There is an interesting yeast character throughout. It finishes with an oddly smoky hint. Not bad.

Tap at Bean and Barrel. Pour is dark allows some light through and appears ruby as a result. The head is creamy and tan. The aroma is sweet, grainy, a little caramel, and nutty. The flavor is sweet, earthy, caramel, a mild hop bite and waxy mouthfeel, grainy, carbonated. Easy to drink but not hugely impressive.
