| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 17, 2009 Bottle from Cindirene’s. Pours dark copper/straw colored with clingy off-white head. Nose is malty, hoppy, with that yeasty spicy house character that seems to be present in all FB beers. The flavor had earthy rye malty notes, with subdued hops, late florals and spicy notes, and a bitterness that took over in the last half of the bottle. Hangover (771), Atlanta, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 9, 2009 Speciality grain? After 700+, might be my first. Dark copper pour. Thick off-white head. Malty, earthy aroma with some citrus hops. Flavor is ’grainy’ indeed, with a nice rye spice/pepperiness. Not bad, interesting! bubbleflubber (898), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 6, 2009 On draught at the High Country Beer Fest, this pours amber into the glass, with a nice fluffy head that reduces to a ring, leaving trace lace. The nose is of cleansing citrus and pine. Rye in the flavor is noted, alongside light caramel malts and heaps of hops. The dry-hopped peppered bitter finish lingers nicely. The mouthfeel is cleansing, with a sharp texture... carbonation is very appropriate. Nice rye here! nearbeer (1871), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 6, 2009 650 ml. Clear copper-amber with a huge, sticky, Belgian-like head. Nutty, toasted whole grain aroma with a caramel undertone. Flavor is similar, with more caramel and the addition of peppery notes from the rye, light coffee roast, and some resin-citrus hop on the finish. Near-medium body is smoothly carbonated and crispy-dry. Great session ale.
