Commercial Description:
The Ryehopper is one of the latest seasonals from French Broad. The brewers noticed a lack of rye beers in the Asheville area and wanted to fill that gap. This beer represents assistant brewer Chris Richards’ first recipe released by the brewery. The malted rye contributes both a rounded nutty and a sharp malt flavor, bridging the maltiness of the barley and the bitterness of the hops. In essence, the Ryehopper is a hoppy rye beer. Seriously, what else did you expect?

Bottle at my refrigerator reduction tasting on 8/15/09. Clear amber pour with a thin beige head. Bready malt aroma with some earthy hops. Tastes just like it smells with bready malt and earthy hops. Finish is balanced between the two.

Pours a cloudy amber with a big fluffy white head. The nose is piney hops with a hint of toasted grains and a little sweetness. Nice malty sweetness mid palate and then you get the hops. Not overly done, a nice balance. Finishes with a nice, subtle, lasting bitterness.

Had on draft. The beer appeared a light amber color and still had a slight fluffy white head. The aroma was nice and hoppy. Nice taste with peppery rye really coming through. Other flavors were piney hops, caramel malt and a nice bitter finish.

Golden body. Smells kind of sour and bready. Really nice carbonation and pleasant caramel and fruity character in the flavor. Tasty.

Tasted at Taco Mac. Deep golden pour. Light colored head that didn’t last. Aroma is very malty and is a bit odd, I am guessing do to the rye. Flavor isn’t bad at all, it was actually pretty ok. Some tart fruits and caramel malt combine with the rye to make an interesting beer. Worth trying.

Bomber from Weinhaus bottle shop in Asheville. murky brown-orange pour with a medium light tan head and some streaks of sudsy lacing. couldn’t figure out the aroma so I peaked at other reviews -- seems like everyone has something different. I smelled peaches and pine. rye malt taste that goes to a tingly grass and citrus backbone. tingly acidic bitter finish has some spice to it. even burnt vibe overall - ok, but not my thing.
