| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 31, 2004 brown and kind of sweet. a little thick for a regular bock, but it does work. bocks are something that i dont really understand, because usually they just taste like beer. dopplebocks are way more complex, but i dont understand the point in a bock. ah well, it was still a drinkable beer. sampled at brewgrass 04 on draught. wilkie (1191), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 10/20 | Mar 29, 2004 Brown, see through appearance. Medium off white head. Color seems to be a little bit dark for a true bock. Aroma is strange--wheaty and grainy (like bread). Malty flavor--very caramel is indicative of a doppelbock but the sweetness is nowhere to be found. In fact there is a bitter aftertaste which ruins the palate. This is not any kind bock. It is a weak attempt at making one out of various bock styles, and I don't appreciate it. Wiseblood (658), Clarksville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 7, 2003 Copper-brown color with a long lasting head. Nice malted flavors are noticable at first, followed by a somewhat bitter finish. Good balance overall. This unobtrusive brew should please just about anyone. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 24, 2002 A kind of roasted nut aroma, and a rich palate. Big Malty finish.
Y’know, this brewery recently added "River" to their name, which although technically correct, is a lot less fun. I liked the idea of a brewery run by French Broads, and the place looking like the Moulon Rouge and the Broads doin’ Can-Can dancing and what not.
