Commercial Description:
Our Wee Heavy-er Scotch Ale is based on our Wee Heavy Scotch Ale recipe, but with a little more-er alcohol. This traditional Scotch Lowland ale is one of our most popular brews. Some of you may remember the original Wee-Heavy from the days when North Carolina brewers could not brew beers containing more than 6% ABV. We would like to take a moment and thank the people of Pop-the-Cap for all their hard work. Gold Medal - 2002 World Beer Championships, Chicago

22 oz’er. Dark brown with just a mist of a head. The aroma is rich and deeply malty, almost caramel. Likewise, this drinks with a full-on blast of malted toast. Liquid bread. (#3537, 5/14/2009)

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a small, off-white head over a deep brown body. Aroma of caramel, light peat, smoke, nutmeg and a bad combination of spices. Taste is smoke, peat, caramel and light fruits. Very light carbonation.

Bottle. Body-medium iced tea brown with a foamy medium ring of bubbles. Nose-light stinky garbage juice, old book, straw. Taste-thin, not a lot going on, light tea mixed with Sprite, light bark, some cinnamon and other spices like mace and nutmeg, unsweet raw sugar.

Bottle courtesy Durhambeer. Pours a brownish red with a thin tan head. Smoky malt, musty citrus aroma.Smoky peat malt taste with hints of citrus hop bitterness and chocolate. Complex and unique, another good beer from French Broad.

Bottle brought by Paul to Andy’s tasting. Pours a clear almost hazy brown with a medium white head. Aromas of burnt malt, roast, and some. Sweet and malty. Finishes with a light bitterness, and a bit sweet.

Bottle: Rusty brown/orange hue with a wispy tan head. Aroma has some caramel, toast, light cheesy notes and peanut. Light on the palate. Some toasted caramel notes in the flavor with some peanut brittle and a light underlying appleish tartness (acetaldehyde). Lingering toasted notes. Eh.

Bottled from DMRz. Dry, biscuity, stone/lava aroma, malty and light caramel. Sweetish, bitter, light milky hop flavor. Big, rough carbonation. Lots of cookie and carbonic acid. Not very exciting.
