| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 23, 2009 Taste 3/9 bottle. Looks: Deep brown with a thin top. Aroma: Peat and roast malt with a little fruit and chocolate. Taste: Smoked peat on a medium to full body with a little spice in the finish. Yeast sourness helps keep the beer from being bland and sweet. While not textbook Scotch ale it is a nice variation worth an occasional purchase. douglas88 (1633), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 8, 2009 Bomber thanks to dchmela, drank with footbalm. Pours a nice amber color with a huge and thick tan head. Massive Guinness like head. The aroma is very odd for the style; loads of dried apples, funky fermented apple cider notes. The taste is very similar; some sweet toffee, lots of apples and funky fermented fruit aspects. Odd for sure. Not bad, but not exactly what I expected. Something was a bit off I suspect. Not bad. riversideAK (2761), Shoreline, Washington, USA

The flavor is malty with nice initial toast and toffee followed by some dry roasted notes, chocolate, and a light smoke that comes through in the finish. Earthy dry finish.
