Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, cookie, bread), light hop (herbs), average yeast (earth, sweat) with notes of dates, figs, and brown sugar. Medium bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Apr 27, 2009 Bottle from the local BP in Sylva. Pours a dark brown beer with a thin head. Aroma is sweet malt. Flavor is sweet roasty and caramel. Clean medium body beer. I don’t think it was 7%, or it didn’t taste like it. Very good

Mar 23, 2009 Taste 3/9 bottle. Looks: Deep brown with a thin top. Aroma: Peat and roast malt with a little fruit and chocolate. Taste: Smoked peat on a medium to full body with a little spice in the finish. Yeast sourness helps keep the beer from being bland and sweet. While not textbook Scotch ale it is a nice variation worth an occasional purchase.

Mar 8, 2009 Bomber thanks to dchmela, drank with footbalm. Pours a nice amber color with a huge and thick tan head. Massive Guinness like head. The aroma is very odd for the style; loads of dried apples, funky fermented apple cider notes. The taste is very similar; some sweet toffee, lots of apples and funky fermented fruit aspects. Odd for sure. Not bad, but not exactly what I expected. Something was a bit off I suspect. Not bad.

Feb 23, 2009 Bottle from ucusty. The nose here is a mix of toast, toffee, caramel, roasted malts and a hint of smoke. Reddish brown pour with a thin head. The flavor is malty with nice initial toast and toffee followed by some dry roasted notes, chocolate, and a light smoke that comes through in the finish. Earthy dry finish.

Feb 20, 2009 Bottle. Ruby body with a short but sturdy dense foam head. Aroma is roasted malts, smoke/peat, and caramel. Light choco notes as well. Taste is smokey/peaty with toasted malts, burnt wood, and caramel. More choco notes, cocoa, dusty/powdery yeast. Body is light-medium with a creamy, soft carbonation. Finish is more smoke/peat, caramel, toasted malts, powdery yeast and cocoa. Tasty!
