Commercial Description:
Our Wee Heavy-er Scotch Ale is based on our Wee Heavy Scotch Ale recipe, but with a little more-er alcohol. This traditional Scotch Lowland ale is one of our most popular brews. Some of you may remember the original Wee-Heavy from the days when North Carolina brewers could not brew beers containing more than 6% ABV. We would like to take a moment and thank the people of Pop-the-Cap for all their hard work. Gold Medal - 2002 World Beer Championships, Chicago

22 oz bottle. Great beer! Dark amber body with a khaki head. Nice hoppy flavor and a mild lingering taste. Not as "heavy" as i expected but definitely a nice brew from the South.

thanks to Rogueone for sharing a bottle. The beer is a dark brownish-amber color with a medium foamy light beige head that diminishes slowly. Thin sheet of lacing on the glass. Sweet nutty and malty aroma. Medium, smooth body with flavors of caramel and malt along with touches of nuts and hops. The finish is sweet and malty with a light hoppy aftertaste. Above average overall, although this is more along the lines of what I would tend to think the "Heavy" would be like, rather than the "Heavy-er".

Bottle. Pours a medium brown with a beige head. Malty aroma with a bit of vinegar sourness. Malty flavor with a decent hop finish. Not bad.

One of my faves. Bought a Growler at Greenlife on Merrimon Ave. in Asheville. Tastes fresh and wonderful. Great lacing and the flavor is bold and palate filling yet not over powerful. Wonderful roasted sugar cane and malty flavors.

Bottle courtesy of emacgee. Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells peaty and sweet with some spicy hints. Tastes chocolatey and tarte with some earthy hints. Decent.

22 oz bottle. Clear chestnut with a tannish doughy head that continued to rise after pouring. Nose is stale butter, toffee, red grapes and earth. Medium body with soft but stinging carb. Taste is dry woody cider and white grape. Bitter, burnt sugar finish with pine needles. Seemed a bit off.

22 oz bottle. Poured a dark orange/brown with a thin tan head that gave way to lots of lacing. Aroma of toasted malt dark fruit and some earthy notes. Flavor was peaty with toasted malt and a slight hint of hops. Body is somewhat thin, but carbonation was good and the beer had a crisp mouthfeel.

Some smoke. berries, earthy noble hop bitterness comes to play in the flavor. Not bad, but nothing special
