The aroma contains some caramel, walnuts, and chocolate. The flavor is a bit sweet with a nutty presence. Kind of like me at a beer tasting. Get it? Nutty presence. Nevermind. Some chocolate and caramel show up in the flavor. Some alcohol in the finish. A nice one brotha! fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 26, 2008 Pours deep amber with a light tan head. Aroma of floral hops and sweet caramel. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness. Good. ChainGangGuy (2568), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 26, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, dark brown body with a near imperceptible head.
Smell: Dark malt aroma coupled with a full frutiness, plenty of yeast, and distinct note of candi sugar. Only a slight peatiness. Hint of black tea leaves.
Taste: A sweet blend of caramel and candy with a prevalent Belgian yeast character all bound by a thin string of peat. Taste of dried fruits. A medium, spicy bitterness attempts to counter all the sugars running loose. Pepper and a taste of tea linger into the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied given a bump by a chewy mouthfeel. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Is it good? Yeah, sure. Sure, it’s good. jrob21 (1268), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 23, 2008 The beligan style yeast is definitely present. As far as scotch ales go though, this one is lacking in malt profile and body I typically like of this style. After the yeast forward flavor and as it warms a bit it gives a faint nutty flavor that finally yields to some red fruity tastes. Need some more bolder and more pronounced flavors here as there is not a lot memorable with this one. Finishes with a bitter and slightly pungent alcohol flavor. BCMike22 (79), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 22, 2008 Poured into glass snifter. Transparent brown color. Sweet nose. Light fermentation. Nice malt, very pure taste, not a complex beer but it’s really tasty in it’s simplicity. Nice balance. Very drinkable, great tasting brew. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA
