wcudwight (10), USA Jan 1, 2008 Dark brown in color with a short lived khaki head. Wet lacing sticks to the sides of the glass. Aroma is a mixture of peat and Begian bananna. Suprisingly this works well. Sweet roasted malts mixed with the Belgian yeast in the flavor. Medium to full bodied with a smooth palate. Interesting take on the style that French Broad pulls off well. Jmichael (581), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Nov 26, 2007 definitly one of the best French Broads to date, Drew is pumping out the good stuff at French Broad, very similiar to the Wee-heavy but you notice the belgian yeast and a bit sweeter with the added belgian sugar. It is good. dolemite77 (167), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Nov 24, 2007 Picked up a 22 oz at the brewery (stop in and see Chris and Drew if you are near Biltmore Estate!). The only thing I can say bad about this beer is that the head didn’t stick around long... so what... it’s a 9% beer, but drinks as easy as any other French Broad beer. Scotch ale with the aroma of a Belgian. I hope they keep brewing this one. Suttree (2335), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Dec 2, 2007 Very dark brown, or maybe even black. Thin beige head. Very nice aroma of honey, molasses, brown sugar and dark bread. Great palate. Very rich, with big bready flavors mixed with fruit - figs, maybe? plus prune and raisin, combined with some earthy notes. Very tasty. BückDich (4558), Boise, Idaho, USA Nov 27, 2007 Bottle: Dark amber color, ruby edges, nice tan head and lacing. The nose is nutty and bright with some caramel and light roast, a bit of nutmeg and burnt toast. The mouthfeel has a nice moderate body and a creamy texture. Balanced with explosive pine flavors, belgian yeast and sweet malts. Nice combo. Thanks Chad.
