On tap at the brewery. This is a nice malty ale. Pours a clear light brown small fully diminishing head. Aroma is weak, somewhat nutty. Flavor is balanced fairly well malty smoothness with just a nice amount of hoppy bite. I would have ranked this brew higher but lack of aroma and thin palate were the main deductions. I enjoyed visiting the brewery, you can tell that Jonas takes a lot of pride in his brews!

draft. Initial aromas of heavy malt, sweet smelling...although a little strange. Darker amber-orange color, translucent. Sweet beginning with a toasted (slightly) finish...not as peaty as one would expect from a Scotch ale, also more alcohol would be nice...all in all though an enjoyable but un-inspiring brew.

On tap at Barley’s Taphouse in Asheville. Rich amber color. Missing the maltiness and strength of a true wee heavy due to the NC alcohol content laws. Tart and sweet both in the complex of flavors.

Deep copper color with a promising malty sweet aroma. Lots of carbonation. Flavor was not as strong as expected. After the initial taste, there was a watery middle. Subtle finish with some butterscotch notes. A good attempt in a state that makes brewing this type of beer difficult.

Nice color, little head. Good intro to this style of beer. I’d buy it instead of a lot of other draft choices...
