Draft sample at Knoxville Brewers Jam 2009. Poured clear brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was lasting and excellent lacing. Moderate toasted malt and earthy aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Drinkable brew.

Pours turbid dark brown with 1-finger khaki head. Aroma is scotch malt, spicy cinnamon, mild brown sugar and nuts. Tastes malty, brown sugary, with notes of walnut, dark chocolate, and some spicy yeast, with as medium palate heft.

Draught. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, toasted bread). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Fairly sour; could have been an old keg. Not much of interest in the nose.

Draught at Tyler’s in Durham, North Carolina. Hazy light brown color with thin off-white head. Hint of malt in the nose and flavor. Some hop flavor and bitternesswith a bit of sweetness. Maybe some cherries in the backround. Decent beer.

On tap at Barley’s Taphouse in Asheville. Rich amber color. Missing the maltiness and strength of a true wee heavy due to the NC alcohol content laws. Tart and sweet both in the complex of flavors.
